New HDR Lounge now open

Interior view of a room with high arched ceiling, couches and small tables.

The newly renovated space is for all current HDR students and features a quiet study area with a variety of lounge seating and group study areas, as well as dock-your-own-device (DYOD) monitors. The space also has plants, a small kitchenette and lockers.

All rooms are air conditioned and have been refurbished while maintaining the building’s heritage charm. If you look closely at some of the windows, for example, you may spot portraits the likes of French botanists Antoine De Jussieu 1686-1758 and Joseph Pitton de Tournefort 1656-1708.

Developed in partnership with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education), University Infrastructure (UI) and Central Operations Services (COS) teams, the space was co-designed with input from HDR students.

The new HDR Lounge is located on the second floor of the Macleay Building (A12), accessible via a lift of stairs. It is open from 8am-6pm, Monday-Friday. Our Peer Learning Advisors (PLAs) will be in the lounge to provide on-the-spot assistance between 12-4pm Monday-Friday.
