What is RSS?
  • RSS is most commonly translated as "Really Simple Syndication" but sometimes "Rich Site Summary". RSS is used to publish notifications of frequently updated web content. You can subscribe to feeds in a feed reader to automatically retrieve the updates to your reader or browser, or manually click and view a feed in most browsers.

Feeds are generally denoted by displaying "RSS" or an image like this: RSS feed Icon

How do I subscribe?
  • Your newsreader will need the feed URL to subscribe. To get our feeds, simply right-click (Windows) or option-click (Mac) on the link provided and copy it to your clipboard. Then, open your reader and paste in the URL. If you just want to add our feed to your web browser, simply click on the link provided.

Browser support
  • As of June 2015, Internet Explorer (Feeds), Safari (Shared Links), and Firefox (Live Bookmarks), include RSS support by default. They can display the feed in the browser window, and also include built-in RSS readers that may automatically detect the presence of RSS feed information and prompt you to subscribe. Alternatively, you can install an RSS plug-in or use an online feed reader.

Chrome needs an RSS feed extension installed to View feed:  Chrome feeds extensions

Mobile devices
  • Subscribe via apps such as Feedly (for Android OS) or RSS Reader by wegenerlabs (for IOS )

Note for Mac devices: With some apps for Mac devices, an online account with a reader app is required. With those apps it can be easier to set up your account and manage your feed subscriptions on a computer/laptop first. RSS Reader by wegenerlabs doesn't require an online account, and is a simple solution for IOS users.
    To subscribe using RSS Reader:

    1. In your device browser, tap and hold the View Feed link to which you want to subscribe, and Copy.
    2. In RSS Reader, click Add feed and Paste the Feed URL
How do I get a feed reader?
  • A feed reader is the tool that is used to read and/or notify you of newly available information. Apart from default browser support for RSS, there are a number of readers available depending on your operating system, and many are free. Many are applications that you download and install. Others are web-based services you sign-up for, and work inside your browser.

After setting up your newsreader, you will be ready to use our RSS feeds. Follow the instructions for your particular feed reader to subscribe to our feeds listed on the top of this page.

Library New Titles feeds
  • How can I view titles added more than seven days ago?
Once you've enabled your access to the feed, in most apps or browsers you will have the option of viewing items received in previous updates.
