Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.

The University of Sydney Library acknowledges that our buildings, collections, and practices exist on unceded Aboriginal lands. We recognise the diversity and knowledges of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and students across all the lands the University stands on, and respect the ongoing connection Aboriginal people have to these lands, their cultural practices, knowledge systems and histories. We pay our respects to their Elders, past and present, who have handed down custodianship to each generation for more than 60,000 years.

About Sydney University Press

Sydney University Press (SUP) is a not-for-profit, scholarly publisher of research-based books.

Our mission is to support and facilitate the dissemination of outstanding research, and to find new ways to extend the availability and accessibility of knowledge, increasing engagement with individual works.

All SUP book proposals and manuscripts undergo a rigorous peer review process prior to being accepted for publication. All SUP commissioning must be approved by the SUP Editorial Advisory Board, which is composed of academics based at the University of Sydney.

SUP is overseen by the SUP Advisory Board, chaired by the Provost's nominee.

Sydney Open Library

Sydney Open Library (SOL) hosts open access academic monographs and textbooks published by Sydney University Press. Our open access books were previously held in the repository at the University of Sydney Library.

As a not-for-profit publisher, SUP takes a hybrid approach to open access, with some books released commercially and others in open access. Most of our open access books are released with the Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) licence.
