Marvell was one of England's great poets of the mid-seventeenth century. In some ways his reputation has been eclipsed by his friend, that other poetic genius of the age, John Milton. Yet Marvell left some wonderful poetry and his political writings give an important insight into Restoration politics. This posthumous collection of Marvell's poems was edited by his wife Mary.
