Owen, John (1616-1683)
The doctrine of the saints perseverance, explained and confirmed.
London : Printed by Leon. Lichfield, Printer to the University, for Tho. Robinson, 1654.
John Owen was a puritan theologian and close supporter of Cromwell. During the interregnum he was appointed Chancellor of Oxford University. A prolific writer and narrow Calvinist, he wrote theology using a scholastic methodology. This work on the perseverance of the saints is typical of his concern with the Calvinist doctrine of predestination.
