Thévenot's travel narrative is typical of the genre in the latter half of the seventeenth century. It is full of interesting factual information which could be cited by compilers of Baconian-style natural histories. It was quoted twice, at length, by Robert Boyle in his General History of the Air, 1692 (also in this exhibition).
