Tillotson, John (1630-1694)
The Protestant religion vindicated, from the charge of singularity & novelty : in a sermon preached before the King at White-Hall, April the 2d 1680.
London : Printed for Brabazon Aylmer ..., and William Rogers ..., 1680.
John Tillotson was a Latitudinarian Anglican who became Archbishop of Canterbury in 1691. Known for his outspoken anti-Catholicism, this work harps on that theme in an attempt to vindicate Protestant Christianity. It was originally published as a sermon in the form seen here. This was an extremely common format for sermons and pamphlets from the period.
