Disability support facilities

The Library has assistive technology rooms in the Fisher and Health Sciences Libraries. These rooms provide access to specialist software and hardware for clients that are registered with the University's Disability Services.

Abercrombie Learning Hub

Abercrombie Learning Hub is a student study and learning space. It has:

  • 24/7 access for students and staff using your student or staff card
  • kitchenette with microwave and boiling/chilled water taps

Brennan MacCallum Learning Hub

Brennan MacCallum Learning Hub is a student study and learning space. It has:

  • 24/7 access for students and staff using your student or staff card
  • kitchenette with microwave and boiling/chilled water taps
  • vending machines

  • collaborative pods
  • outdoor study terrace with powered tables

Camden Commons

Camden Commons is a student study and learning space. It has:

  • 24/7 access for students and staff using your student or staff card
  • 70" interactive whiteboard/screen
  • access to high demand collections via the HAL-1 book vending machine.

Carslaw Learning Hub East

Carslaw Learning Hub East is a student study and learning space. It has:

  • 24/7 access for students and staff using your student or staff card
  • whiteboards
  • collaborative pods

Conservatorium of Music Library

The Sydney Conservatorium of Music is a specialist music library with one of the largest music collections in Australia. It has:

  • audio equipment at designated desks for individual listening
  • Scansnap book scanner, located in the printing and copying room
  • a bookable meeting room with TV and VCR
  • an exhibition space
  • silent zones

CreateSpace

CreateSpace is a technology-rich engagement and collaborative learning space with future-focused technologies. Free to use for enrolled students and staff, CreateSpace is the perfect space to innovate, create and collaborate. It has:

  • 3D printers
  • 3D scanner
  • virtual reality technology
  • audio studio with equipment
  • video studio with equipment
  • Arduino kits
  • support from Library staff to learn about and use all equipment.

Fisher Library

Located on the Camperdown Campus of the University of Sydney, the Fisher Library supports the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (including the School of Education and Social Work) and the Business School. It has:

Law Library

Located on the Camperdown Campus of the University of Sydney, the Herbert Smith Freehills Law Library supports the Sydney Law School and legal studies in other faculties and schools of the University. It has:

  • 24/7 access for students and staff via Fisher Library using your student or staff card
  • 10 bookable meeting rooms with whiteboards and computers
  • an exhibition space
  • silent zones

Herbert Smith Freehills Law Library Learning Commons

A great place to collaborate and relax with comfortable seating. It has:

  • Three group meeting rooms
  • High tables with in-built power and USB points to charge your laptop, tablet or phone
  • A water bottle refill station – so you can keep refreshed while you study
  • Hot and cold Zip taps
  • A new waste management system – including separate recycling, general waste and organics waste bins

PNR Learning Hub

PNR Learning Hub is a student study and learning space. It has:

  • 24/7 access for students and staff using your student or staff card
  • kitchenette with microwave and boiling/chilled water taps
  • vending machines
  • whiteboards
  • collaborative pods

SciTech Library

Located on the Darlington Campus of the University of Sydney, the SciTech Library supports the Faculty of Science (including agriculture and veterinary science); Architecture, Design and Planning; Engineering; and Medicine and Health. It has:

  • kitchenette with boiling water tap
  • Rare Books exhibition space
  • lift access between SciTech Library and ThinkSpace
  • silent zones

Susan Wakil Health Building Library

Located on the Camperdown Campus, the Susan Wakil Health Building (SWHB) Library supports the Faculty of Medicine and Health, focusing on the School of Health Sciences, Susan Wakil School of Nursing and Midwifery and the Central Clinical School. The SWHB Library has:

  • more than 20 bookable meeting rooms
  • more than 30 spaces with computers and access to printing
  • 24/7 study zone on Level 1 with swipe access for University of Sydney students and staff
  • reading room on Level 4
  • access to high-demand short loan collections, specific to the faculty
  • teaching and training room which seats 20 people and can accommodate group work
  • parking near the building
  • height-adjustable desks

The Quarter

The Quarter is a dedicated postgraduate study space located on the Camperdown Campus. It has:

  • 24/7 access for postgraduate coursework students via swipe
  • 3 bookable meeting rooms
  • a bookable event space
  • kitchen with microwave and boiling/chilled water taps
  • vending machines
  • free 24-hour lockers
  • whiteboards
  • silent zones
  • disabled parking, height-adjustable desks and accessible toilets

ThinkSpace

ThinkSpace is a technology showcase and creative play space, aimed at sparking ideas and providing opportunities for collaboration. It has:

  • 3D printers
  • virtual reality technology
  • video studio with equipment
  • CNC carving machine
  • PCs with design software
  • graphic tablets
  • Touchscreen pods
  • support from Library staff to learn about and use all equipment.

As new technologies become available, they will be incorporated into the space to ensure there are always new creative tools to spark innovation.

Book ThinkSpace equipment, including 3D printers, 3D carving machine, recording studio, soldering station, digital wall or design hub.

Our friendly PLAs will be on site to assist you with using this equipment. This is a free service, however we ask that you share your creations with our community on the ThinkSpace Facebook page.

Westmead Hospital Library

University of Sydney staff and students have access to the following facilities through the Westmead Hospital Library. It has:

  • clinical scenario simulation rooms
  • pathology tutorial room, housing historical specimens
  • technology-enabled individual and group study spaces
  • UniSydney WiFi access
  • purpose-built facilities for student and medical staff examinations
  • bookable meeting rooms
  • self-checkout technology
  • phone charging stations
  • computers
  • 24/7 access (subject to conditions and registration)
