The workes of Beniamin Jonson

The Workes of Beniamin Jonson

Published in 1616, The workes of Beniamin Jonson was the first time that English plays were presented in folio format. The folio format prior to this was used primarily for expensive religious texts that were more likely to sell well. The publication of The workes of Beniamin Jonson (Benjamin Jonson) had a huge impact on the way that people thought about published plays, and paved the way for William Shakespeare’s First Folio, published in 1623.

The University of Sydney holds two copies of The workes of Beniamin Jonson, one donated by donated by Dr Kimberly Cartwright and Charles Littrell, and the other a part of the Macdonald STC collection.
